FOREX: Ringgit Opens Higher Against US Dollar
KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 (Bernama) — The ringgit opened higher against the US dollar Thursday at 3.0278/0287 compared with 3.0280/0300 Wednesday.
A dealer said there was interest for the local currency as investors were upbeat on the Malaysian economy, adding that the ringgit was also boosted by the uptrend on Bursa Malaysia.
Compared with other major currencies, the ringgit traded mostly higher, appreciating against the yen to 3.7408/7428 from 3.7452/7491 as well as against the euro to 4.2698/2723 from 4.2943/2981.
It also strengthened against the British pound to 4.9217/9241 from 4.9505/9550 but depreciated against the Singapore dollar to 2.3977/4002 from 2.3924/3958 previously.
